Found a lost bottle in the cellar. These had been drunk when fresh, as intended, and were delightful. Now 8.5 years after the vintage it is a more like a "serious" typical Gruner with fullness anf viscosity and white pepper and slightly overripe green vegetables on the palate. Quite nice with shrimp and vegetables sauteed in a Chinese style. Would have been interesting to taste it in between, perhaps at age 6 or 7.

12% A creamy nose with some delicate nectarine fruit curiously combined with salt and pepper crisps. Quite fresh on the palate initially, before opening out into a nice fullness of flavour with a gentle pepper spice and a crisp freshness. Very good length, though the overall impression is that it feels a touch simple. Nice wine, though. Very Good.

Nice nose coming out of the bottle, but that's about it. Thin, watered-down fruit, tending toward green apples and grapefruit, except woefully lacking in acidity. Quite disappointing.

12% Mid straw appearance. The nose is soft and rich with peach notes and some white pepper spice, together with some unusual lettuce and cucumber notes. Rich and full on the palate: very integrated and round, much more so than the Felsner; showing more age and perhaps greater concentration. I can’t help feeling that this would be a good accompaniment to a simple green salad. After being open for a day, the Bründlmayer is much richer than the Felsner. Excellent.
