Community Tasting Notes (8) Avg Score: 90.8 points

  • Currants, black berries, silky violet aromas, fine tannins, medium acidity, polished and sleek. Very nice and several notches above a daily sipper. A very refined, polished, and sleek. Very good but not amazing complexity and depth.

Tasting right after 2018 Manoir de Gay Pomerol and 2019 Barde Haut St Emilion. I'd rank them Manoir, then Barde, then Paloumey, but pretty close between Barde and Paloumey.

  • This Cru Bougeois Supérieur, located in the far South of the Haut-Médoc not far from Bordeaux-City, is composed of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon and 40% Merlot, organically farmed, fermented in Stainless Steel and aged for 12 months in oak barrels (30% new). A deep and beautiful purple-red color is followed by a fruity, still somewhat closed, bouquet with some new oak and a taste that is clearly dominated by the Cabernet Sauvignon with blackberries and cassis. The tannins are abundant, but super ripe and the finish is fresh and medium long. There are certainly more complex wines but this scores high on the pleasure scale, so I am happy to give it a 92. This will gain more complexity over the next 5 years but can be drunk with great pleasure right now. At 16,5€ this is a terrific bargain.

  • A fine example of the 2019 vintage - enticing nose, rich upfront and then savoury and classic.
Very accessible price point - worth trying.

  • Light purple color. The nose has a dark but lively mix of plums and black currants, topped in tobacco, menthol, violets, smoky earth, with bell pepper and graphite elements. Nice medium tannins on the palate and medium-plus acidity, along with flavors of tangy plums and crunchy black currants. The tones of leather, black pepper, mushrooms, bell pepper, and graphite add complexity. Impressive depth and nuance at a very reasonable price. Should age well in the near term as well.

  • Still a bit young, Blackberries, cherry, and nice body with a long finish.
