  • First tastes are of cherry cough medicine. With air that subsides, a tannic chaulky flavor/texture emerges. Finishes with a tart, salty brine flavor. Gets even worse with air. This wine is done.

And then I put the cork back in and tucked it away...

Hours later eucalyptus, black fruits...complex, drinkable. Interesting. Jaffurs comes through in the end.

  • I've always been impressed by the quality of the Upslope offerings. At the $60 price point, it typically offers a drinking experience well beyond the cost of the bottle. Unfortunately, the 02 continues to be highly......unimpressive. The big unctuous fruit it showed earlier on has now mostly faded leaving behind a dull, thin and somewhat diluted wine. While there's still fruit, oak and tannin...it's moving quickly in the downhill direction. Not likely to fall off completely for another 5-7yrs but it's better days are behind it. What remains today is just a shell of it's former self. Drink 'em up kids. It's still a "PLAYER" at the price point though it once was a clear "WINNER".

  • This was much better than previous bottles. Nice dark color to it. Great nose of red fruits and chocolate. Very well balanced on the palate with everything really coming together. The fruit, acid and fine tannins all played well against each other leading to a medim plus finish.

  • My love of Jaffurs is well documented, so maybe I was expecting too much with this one. Nice enough nose of caramel and dark fruits with a bit of earth underlying. Medium bodied wine that felt maybe a touch thin to me. It was better on the second day so maybe this still needs some time to come together?
