  • Took about 4 hours of decanting to come around.

Was fine upon opening, maybe 91. After 3 hr decant improved. If I had more I'd decant at least 6 hours in advance. This was OK upon opening, after an hour some expansion, but the wine really comes alive after 4 hrs. Anyone who says just decant for an hour is not your friend!

However, this bottle unfortunately was missing A LOT of backbone. It was soft, elegant, and gracious. No dry leaf. Missing complexity. Not much acidity. Sure it was smooth and mellow but not even close to other top burgs I've had. No way a wow factor, not even close. Not worth the price of admission IMO. Won't buy more.

Maybe by last glass it eeked into the 93 pt category. How would it have been if decanted 6 hrs? I'll never know (( I'm not sure this will go a long distance but will probably improve with more cellar time.

  • Oh my lord! What a debut for the new owners! Decanted for an hour between 4pm and 5pm, then poured back in the bottle and brought along for the tasting/dinner. Served around 8pm. What an absolute treat! Very approachable, almost “easy” and forthcoming, so much so that it was discussed if it was New World. Ripe, rich caressing fruit of both red and black origin. Lovely touch of toasted oak. Modern rather than traditionnal. However, it doesn’t lose it’s Grand Cru grandieur with profound intensity and exceptionnal, long finish with freshness and zip of the highest caliber. Clearly goosebump Grand Cru wine here in an “easy-to-understand” style
