Electric golden apple juice. A bit one note but perfect on a warm summer evening with vegetables and grilled scallops. Excellent qpr but have had better Hofgut 2019s if I can be honest.

I'm loathe to be too harsh as I had a bit of a cold when consuming this which certainly didn't help, but this seems a big step behind the NH Kabinett Trocken #1 "Mutter Anna" I had recently. This seems disjointed and in need of time, while that wine was just gangbusters from the word go.

Floral and mineral nose, with a bit of lemon zest. On the palate it's all tension, tight and sharp, grapefruit and with a chalky texture. True to its nature and very nice to drink.

Tasted semi-blind over two days alongside the 2019 Stein Riesling Blauschiefer trocken.
Day 1: Rubber band on the nose after opening. After an hour the rubber band is less prominent, but still some petrol/funk with obvious Riesling character. In the mouth, touch of alcohol, chalk and stone, grapefruit peel. Mouth puckering acidity. Finish is sour lemon and chalk.
Day 2: A characteristic Riesling nose: rubber and fresh tires. Some funk. Palate is all acidity and minerality. Sour lemon. Chalk finish.
Compared to the Stein this was slightly less fruit forward and more bracing. Both bottles are excellent and I am glad I have them in my cellar. By chance, on Day 2 these wines were paired with a beef ragu and semolina gnocchi dish which turned out to be an excellent pairing.

Grapefruit, nectarine, underripe pineapple, chalk, and yellow flowers. Slightly austere yet airy and light as a feather on the palate, with intense flavors of white peach, lemon peel, and citrus tones. Lively acid on the tongue. Needs some time for sure but very enjoyable to drink now as well.
