At first I thought it may be flawed and therefore opened a second bottle. They were both exactly the same. So the final judgement is: Open now and try it. Some may still drink it, others will pour it away.
The cote de baleau is passing away or just has. Depending on your preferences.

A slight brick red has now superseded the younger ruby/purple hue as this is now reaching its peak.
It's bouquet also hints at age, yet is pleasant with some oak and earth on the nose.
Tannins are now gone (sediment is there, so decant or place bottle upright a day before drinking). The palate is smooth with dark fruit still evident, at least upon opening.
I opened as an afternoon sipper sans food, but I would enjoy this with beef, be it a skirt steak on the grill or even a charred burger.
I paid $20 for this bottle, which might be slightly high for the end result and its age. Yet, I enjoyed the bottle, and would look for a younger vintage.

Medium ruby/purple color. Nice nose of cherries, dark berries, some dark chocolate and a touch of earth/graphite. On the palate there are nice red and dark fruits, minerals again and some flowers. It's medium-bodied again with medium-low tannin and medium- acidity. Medium length. There is a little bit of a lack in mid-palate and length compared to the best vintages but this is an affordable and accessible St-Emilion that works nicely with food. 88+

nose: nice soft nose of cedar, berries, spice box, and some dark cherries with bits of earth
taste: good supporting tannins with a very good medium feel and tones of dark cherries, cedar, tobacco, berries and bits of spices
overall: this was a straight pop n pour. Well balanced and is a good everyday bordeaux that is perfectly fine right now
