This wine was a head scratcher for me this evening. I would feel awkward rating it. The nose was spot on ripe Nahe Riesling Spätlese. Yet something was amiss on the palate. It tasted great on he attack and then the sugars over powered everything. Helmut Hexamer makes some amazing wines, mind you. I wonder if this was stored improperly before it made it to my cellar. It lacked all sorts of precision and focus which the winery is known for. Can't rate it.

Tasting. Nose like a botritized dessert wine. Loads of sweet orange, candied peach and ginger, elderflower, ripe berries. Palate has a mushroomy depth, great balance, medium sweet with medium plus acidity. Long finish. Excellent. But reminds me too much of a dessert wine to drink anytime but at the end of dinner with cheese or dessert.

Awesome bold fruit, solid minerality and palate ripping acidity. This was a great wine, and out of 5 rieslings that we opened tonight, the best of the bunch.

Looking a little golden / advanced, but very fresh on the palate. Great acidity. However, the sweetness was a little much.

Diesel, floral, for me I would have liked a little more tartness
