  • This was holding on for its life, as my tasting partner said. Tawny core and rim. Bits of brown sugar, soil, onion etc. remaining and show some elegance for sure but with more wine in the glass, this shows clear oxidation and robs the wine of showing more. Too bad. Not at all in the heavy style. Shows the “friendliness” of the vintage.

  • Upon removal of foil cap, there was wine seepage pooled between cork and capsule; Translucent tawny with large clear rim; on decant, this seemed horribly oxidized. Bagged it up for blind tasting to be compared with 3 other Gevrey-Chambertins (and wishing for a miracle). An hour later: stewey fruit; very soul-inflected, ferrous, old burgundy savory. Then it rapidly died in the glass with aldehydes mowing down any redeeming qualities. Sad.
