Staggeringly good. Has an initial olive note, both in aroma and taste, but also this great lingering minerality and complex mid-palate. This is terrific stuff and I imagine it will be even better in 20 years (I had the 1995 in 2017 or so, and it was mind-boggling). Now, on night two, it was a different wine - unbalanced and shrill, suggesting to me that at some point it will shut down and it might take another 10-15 years to show again. If you have this, I'd suggest popping and pouring rather than decanting.

Perfectly ripe, red and black cherries, smoke, and floral aromas get your attention quickly. The palate, with its layers of vibrant fruit, salt, spice, and thyme, along with its silky, refined tannins and energetic, supple finish, steals the show. Drink from 2025-2042.

Grand Cru Portfolio Tasting (3/9 Grand Cru Portfolio Tasting, NYC): Nose has a cool water atop noble oak character. Palate has some really drying tannins on the finish--this wine is shut down and not yet about fruit. From massale selected 1935 serine vines if I recall correctly. Guillaume Clusel says he likes to drink this with 10yrs of age.
