Still briary and brambly. Lots of sour cherries, damp forest, saladitos, and hints of cranberries and tomatoes. Good freshness and peppery character. Dry, tactile finish.

Nearly opaque ruby purple, quite viscous in the glass. Initially I get aromas of plums, violet, woody spice and alcohol heat; with flavors of ripe red fruit and spice, with some slightly vegetal notes that I find off-putting. After a couple of hours, still not opened up or cooled off as much as I hoped; still get the vegetal qualities and tannins, and if anything the heat seems even more prominent. But I think I'm picking up more ripe flavors -- toward the raisin, stewed fruit end of things. Overall, while I recognize that some people go for this sort of thing, this is too much of a big, high alcohol, hit-you-over-the-head bruiser for my taste. It's not an undrinkable or anything, but I would prefer something with more acid, balance, and overall finesse.

Lacked enough fruit to balance the acidity. Had good black pepper notes on the palate indicative of cool climate zin. The fruit just seemed to be under ripe.

Still tannic, but balanced.
