  • Bought these a few years back, hung onto both bottles, decided to open one tonight for something good. Corked. Wet newspaper, my wife noticed it, too. Too bad, as there is underneath the TCA some really good imprint of lemon, and what seems like a deep concentration but it's hard to get past the TCA signature, even at a light to moderate level. Have one left, guess I'll use it for a blind tasting soon so we can get it shared with others.

  • Nose where yeast, vanilla and spices mix.

We are on a natural BdB, selection of old vines with a discreet effervescence.

On the palate, we could expect another straight and austere champagne. It is not so. The mouth remains supple, the juice is textured with an almost greasy attack with this hint of oxidation. Then come the aromas of citrus fruits and cereals which blend harmoniously. Undeniable sensation of richness with a candied apricot that mixes with the apple. Beautiful tracer and saline finish which opens the furrow to a great length.

Excellent, the wines of Jacques Lassaigne give me a lot of pleasure.

  • Blanc de Blanc Brut nature - is there a more difficult Champagne to make? a more sure recipe for disaster? Any attempt on this with off-the-mill grapes will lead to the most atrocious thin and sour experience, like a poor producer Chablis in a rainy vintage. Thus the more admiration I have when this formula succeeds. This Champagne is very much in the Selosse style, who has pioneered ripe Chard with low dosage, oak aged with well judged bruised apple oxidative, and spice notes, intermixed with earthy elements. The Lassagne Millesime 2012 an awesome Champagne - not for the beginner - too compact, too dry, too savory. I would not have liked it a few years ago, but I have acquired this taste through numerous Selosse & Co. offerings that made me appreciate it as a counter point - and complement - to the the classical house style with brioche and dosage, eg, something like Dom 2012. So many good things can be said about the 2012 vintage, it also does its magic here providing rich, ripe yet balanced fruit. Drinking this Champagne stuns you when you read zero dosage, and you are happy that it's from Montgeux and not Mesnil. There is a generosity to the fruit that balances the savory elements. The only issue is finding this small volume bottling.

  • I love this Champagne. Such a solid performer with all of the pieces falling into the right place. Incredibly giving now and also one that signals its trajectory into super fine age-ability. Lemon succulence and vibrancy in the perfect combo. Previous note and technical information from last year (11/1/21) apply otherwise.

  • BdB with no dosage, from a top selection of old vines. tons of lemon candy on the nose. It’s there on the front of the tongue as well, but complemented by sweet red apple on the sides of the tongue, as well as a touch of toffee. After 30 minutes open the acid has calmed down a little. Really well made and tasty BdB, just quite young at the moment
