Deep purple. An attractive if surprising nose of cherry ice cream - vanilla from the oak perhaps? On the palate there's a swash of the expected Cab Franc blackcurrant leaf, then a slightly stalky favour, and a long finish with plenty of very fine tannins. The acidity us there, but toned down: my impression is of slight fuzziness, or muddiness, not what I usually hope to find in a Loire red. I have to admit that, for the price, I was expecting more. 13%, cork.
