This 2004 Bernard Moreau Chassagne Montrachet 1er Cru La Maltroie is still incredibly fresh and vibrant, one of my favourite vintages of the decade. Ripe orchard fruits, sweet citrus, buttery, smokey lees, textured brioche, slight ting of green on the palate. (87/100)

The 2004 Bernard Moreau Chassagne Montrachet 1er Cru La Maltroie is drinking nicely today and showing the classic old style of Bernard Moreau – leesy and textured without any reduction. Unlike their recent vintages that are leesy with struckmatch reduction this 2004 offers a maturing nose of glossed tree fruits, lemon extract and mild honied wood. Lovely racy acidity of 2004 balancing the texture well. Lively and expressive. (86/100)

Fruit driven nose, not immediately associated with Chassagne. Golden apples here, not pears. Oak hovers in the wings, but its well integrated with the flavors of lemon peel and wax. Long finish, but only average depth and complexity.
