A serious wine. A bit muddy-looking (in a good way), it has good pinot complexity - earth, mushrooms, cranberry and cherry. These people know what they're doing. A bit sharp and green but, you know, it's a pinot noir.

A ridiculous amount of barnyard (aka poo) on the nose! Slightly metallic notes initially but they blow off with air. Lots of red fruits and cherries on the palate. Quite spicy. Well integrated tannins and nice vibrancy. High acidity.

Blank Canvas tasting (Oinoscent): Central Otago, Pinot noir from Gibbston valley, 1ha, 50% whole bunch, 12 months in oak and another 13 months in bottle, 13.50% The wine shows medium intensity, earthier than the settlement 2019, the fruit is riper, red cherries, oaky layer, light spicy Palate is tight, high acidity, lean, earthy and a touch gamey, drying tannins, medium finish. Again tired as the settlement 2019, expected more.

This wine is in transition, nearly autumnal, it’s lost it violets since we last met.
Smooth quince nose, mandarin rind, touch of fern, before it rolls in a deep baked cherry tart with tonka beans.
Dried cranberries on the palette, dill, taught red plums skins, light soy sauce, ending in powdery talc like tannins with a touch of cola aftertaste.
I loved this in its youth, but I like where it’s going !

3 Winos and a Providore (The four seasons hotel, the rocks, sydney): Slight whole bunch, sweet and savoury spice, black hued fruits, slight earthy. Juicy, dense, a little over extracted black fruits, tight, slightly chalky tannins. Hmm.
