  • A great wine and a good example of just how good Rogue Valley wines can be with the right growing conditions and winemaker. This wine still has great flavor and body. Nose has some black pepper and plum. Flavor is primarily dark fruits with some faded tannins that provide just the right kind of balance. Finish is pleasant and long.

I would certainly buy this wine if given the chance, but the $75 they wanted for it at the winery seemed excessive, even considering storage costs.

  • First Glass not decanted: Almost a year later this bottle has definately improved with time in the cellar. There is a beautiful lavender note that sails over scents of blueberry pie, cloves, spice, light caramel, cedar and freshly tilled earth with a light linging of cola at the end. With a purple core leading to a violet rim...I'm glad this was decanted...there was more sediment that one might have expected for such a young wine. In the mouth the tannins and oak are dominant initially as they give way to flavors of açaí berries, black berries, and blue berries trailed by a lingering of baker's chocolate. If I had another bottle of this I would probably wait another year before opening it.

After almost 90 minutes in the decanter this wine has finally reminded me of why I bought it. Notes of black pepper have emerged on the nose and the wine is just lush and supple in the mouth. The finish has gained length and the purity of the fruit is really starting to shine.

After close to four hours this wine has finally come together to showcase its strengths. It is now a glass of silk, spice, black & blue fruits eclipsed by a lingering of spice on an elegant finish...

  • Run....Don't walk....to get your hands on this wine. I tasted this yesterday in the winery with Joe Dobbes the wine maker/Owner of Dobbes Family Estate. This was our final wine of the night together and what a stunner. Beautiful layers of fruit, spice, and an elegance that can not be put into words. I highly reccomend ANYONE who thinks they like wine to please, PLEASE go to the tasting room and give these wines a shot.
