A gift from NS, I really enjoyed this classic style Rioja that definitely evoked La Rioja Alta's style. Definitely worth purchasing again. Drank well over 3 nights following a decant and certainly improving with air.

A nice easy going Reserva. In the style of Vina Ariana before it became a Gran Reserva. Drinking well with savoury notes and redcurrant/ raspberry fruit. Not much complexity at this stage but that should come with time. At under £20 a good wine.

Tasted at the Whitewater Valley Wine Society, Hampshire, UK. Rioja wines, presented by Pierre Mansour, Head of Buying at The Wine Society.
Tempranillo made in traditional style, with a bright cherry red colour and spice and oak on the nose from two year’s ageing in American oak barrels. It was full bodied with a leathery, smoky character and was smooth and elegant on the palate. Good.

Classic Rioja style. Full bodied, red berries, leather, oak spice - vanilla, clove, smoke. Med tannins, high alcohol (14.5%) but we’ll integrated. Medium+ finish. The oak is noticeable but does not dominate with plenty of red berry fruit. Very smooth.

Fruit forward, red berries, some spice/cinnamon, leather, smoke and oak. Going to leave it for a bit as complexity not developed yet. Easy drinking.
