Drank at WWS Northern Rhone tasting. Age showing a bit at the edges of the wine. Nose of flowers and bricks. Black fruit (plums) well-preserved. Still a bit tannic--softening but still evident. Great complexity here: Lots of pepper, black licorice, and forest floor elements. An intense wine, that nonetheless exhibits wonderful balance & harmonious elements. This is a surprisingly delicious wine that has stood the test of time. WOTN, of course.

Medium garnet-red color, murky. Interesting nose of roasted walnuts, olives, plums, tar. On arrival, soft tannin and low acidity, easy gulping. Big plum fruit and olives in the mouth. OK finish. California style syrah, a travesty for the site, among the finest in Cornas. Bottle #1 of one.

Musty initially. Even brick red almost to rim. Richer with some air. Little fruit, and tannin resolved. Old Rhône - love or hate it!
