Still a saturated ruby/garnet color. Beautiful nose of sweet black currant, creosote, charred wood and a hint of mint! Medium-full bodied and silky. This is now a little past its prime, but still delicious! Red and black currants as well as toasty oak on the palate. Drink now 92

Still a very saturated ruby-garnet with minimal lightening at the rim. Took a good 30-45 minutes in decanter to open properly. Slightly oxidized nose is a real bummer, bc the palate is good! Medium-full bodied with plenty of tannin. No longer stern, but still well put-together and tannic. This hasn't gained as much complexity with age as I hoped it would. There's some over-ripe fruit that seems to have oxidized and only hints of mint. IT'S IMPORTANT TO NOTE THAT THE CORK WAS VERY DRY AND CRUMBLED DURING REMOVAL. Hopefully this is simply an off bottle. I will treat as such and not rate. (But this still deserves a rating in the mid-80s as there is a lot to like here)

Wine was surprisingly still a little tight initially but opened up in short order. Heavy graphite with initial nose but lessened quickly. Much more tannic than was expected. Floral notes initially but dissipates and not long on the palate. Could have stayed cellared a year or two longer.

This wine has been a pleasant surprise at every step. Opened this at 12 years and was surprised with what I got. First, corked pulled solidly and no degradation nor infiltration. In other words, it held up nicely. Second, a bouquet was apparent. third, nice cherry flavors and cassis as well. but not as intense as in youth. CT reviewers have commented fruit is fading and I can see a case for that. However, the trade off was a nicely evolved wine that still presents fruit but other flavors. Tannins seemed completely integrated. This has been a nice surprise for the producer. I feel this wine is a little known gem, not a wow wine by any means, but very respectable of it's Spring Mountain pedigree. This was probably the right time to open my last one, as it's ready and shouldn't go farther. Yet day two in the bottle and I still like it. Recommended.

Decant 2 hrs (no sediment) rich nose of currants, cassis, plums and anise. These favors continue onto the palate, with hints of black licorice. Overall this is a complex fully intergrated cab that is nearing the end of its drinking window.
