This came with 2 other wines from Urban Grape in Boston for a Zoom social networking events. The first two wines, a gavi and a French cremant were ok, but on the dull side. I gave them an 86, perhaps a point generous. This Tempronillo, or however the wine is spelled, is much nicer. Smack in the middle of the profile of these wines with great clarity of fruit. Minimal nose. Still this wine sqeaks by as a 90.

Scorched earth, hints of tar, anise biscotti, dark fruit, gravel on the nose, it’s savory and aromatic — it doesn’t quite jump out of the glass but it’s close. There’s a nice high-toned quality to it. Fleshy, somewhat rustic, texturally — the fruit starts to show a little more on the palate with some bright blackberries, currants. Nice medium+ acidity provides some balance to the richness, though there is a bit of additional warmth towards the finish. It’s 14.5 but drinks a touch noticeably hot. All the same, I enjoyed this.
