  Deep red colour. Smell of strawberry turning to earth as the glass tipped towards the nose. Currant and cherry flavours are followed by mineral/stone notes. Slight hints of chocolate. Tannins are potent - crazy legs showing on the glass. I could have left this in the cellar for a few more years.

  Holy Toledo - what a smart wine...clearly, someone here has ambition!
  
  This limited-release Mencia takes its fruit from vines 60-80 years of age.
  
  Dark ruby - approaching violet - at the rim, earthy aromas, with black fruit, immediate hints of oak & later black licorice evolving.
  
  Dry, med-to-full body, high acidity & tame tannins. Palate has a bewitching intensity, full of fruit & tobacco with light notes of tar.
