Agree with favorable notes below; this is excellent and already very approachable. Probably better in 3-4 years too so I’ll save one. Distinct blackberry on the nose with blue/black fruit on palate but with an excellent balancing acidity and some more subtle savory notes I expect to emerge more in time.

On the nose this wine shows deep fruits that lean to the darker side with fig, black cherry, damson plum and cassis that come with mocha, vanilla latte, cigar box, herbs, and spice notes that come with hints of toast and marzipan. The palate full bodied and broad shouldered while built with juicy acidity, and full cocoa powder tinted tannins. bold flavors of mission fig, blackberry, plum and cassis come with notes of dark chocolate, espresso, toast, wood and subtle notes of spice, herbs and earth. The wine leaves its presence on the palate felt.

Nice wine. The CJ is always good and a good value. Would have probably rated higher, but had the LaJota WS Keyes merlot 2016 after that was spectacular.

This is a huge wine, lots of fruit, great concentration but not overripe or overdone. Delicious wine. Maybe a touch of heat but overall a balanced wine. Really solid finish. Silky mouthfeel. Just enough freshness and acidity. Should develop nicely. In a blind side by side tasting this easily bested a 2017 Bevan Tench EE.

First time enjoying. Big and juicy. Well balanced with a nice lingering finish. Paired with a ribeye. Solid wine and would like to enjoy again
