  • Quick note from memory last night. I did like this quite a bit but it does need more time. N said it smelled like glazed donuts, which it did! Enjoy a bottle now and then I'd recommend having the next one in a couple of years.

  • Dinner with the wine group (Zoom): Lemon-yellow; a bit reticent at first, fresh lemon-lime, a bit of richness on the nose; palate is full bodied, richly textured, lemon, slight bitterness in the midpalate, fruit fades quickly; finish is medium. 88
With some air, this develops a bit more complexity and depth compared to #1. Knowing the wines single blind, I’m now guessing this is La Foret. Still, to open a bottle now I think the village has the edge.
Day 2: this is showing better than the village Chablis tonight. So it does show some nice evolution with time and probably has better stuffing to age. 89

  • Four Chablis: Medium yellow. So fresh and bright on the nose with the classic crushed shells and sea salt, with tones of hay, yellow flowers, with juicy lime fruit. Precise acidity on the palate, nice texture and depth, with limes, orange peel and tart apricot fruit. Racy yet deep with delicious saline, chalk dust, oyster shells and lemon drops. Long, deep but brisk – a delightful and complex Chablis.
