Classic Sangiovese. Dark ruby red. On the nose quite peppery and spicy, autumn forest and very little fruit. Taste medium dry - high accidity - not a very long taste.
Fine wine to go with the beef tournedos.

IWS Tuscany, Campania, Basilicata, Marche, Umbria; 1/29/2022-1/30/2022 (My place, Kent Street): From Coravin. meaty, reductive and concentrated - like beef extract - and a little reticent initially, a slight cereal note as well, alcohol prickle. A touch of dusty cedar and spiced cherry with agitation. Touch of liquorice. Medium plus intensity acidity, a little bitterness here; it's quite 'hard' on the palate, tannins are drying, bitter herbs, slight cherry but with cherry stone bitterness. Perhaps time/a decant would help but fairly meh for me.

I found this wine to be a bit disjointed and over extracted. High in alchohol and lacking fruit. It was perfectly drinkable just not really my style. Maybe it was just too young and in an awkward place. Will let second bottle sit for a while.

Excellent wine. Immediate truffle and fungus on the nose, which made it very endearing. Pure, energetic with interesting spices, very dry and earthy. Excellent quality from Half Moon Bay Wine and Cheese.
Carmignano has deep history for excellent wines. Mauro Vannucci knows his craft.
