Orphans of Burgundy Tasting: Impressions. Reason for coming to this tasting, beautiful aromas of cherry, blueberries, med to high intensity. Touch sweet with beautiful structured finish. Drinking very well with long finish.

Pale ruby, with a slight violet hue. Aromas of medium ripe cranberry and blackberry, as well as wheat biscuits, and rocket leaves and rosemary. Lively acids, with a little weight, and mainly savoury briny flavours, of wheat, wet clay, bit of sour cherry, cranberry, violet florals, cinnamon, tree bark, and hints of charcuterie. Fairly lengthy. Pretty nice

This has that undeniable 2019 bing cherry ripeness, but there’s a great chalky structure and an almost mentholated freshness that keeps it interesting and lively.
Day two reveals clove and nutmeg accents to the finish and a firmer tone to the lingering tannins.

Thia is a very pretty Beaune 1er cru with bright and dark cherry flavor and a hint of earth poking through. Better on the second day which bodes well for ageing.
