Drinking nicely, and into its secondary stage…dark cherry/raspberry, warm baking spices and earth. I wouldn’t call it soft but the structure is resolved which surprised me since many 99s still carry that feral personality through the finish. From a bottle I’ve had for years, perfect fill, cork in great shape, and a touch of bricking color on the edges. (93-94)

A lovely resolved Burgundy that I bought back around 2002. Worth the wait. Classic Pinot nose all cherries, plums and sous bois. Secondary but not tertiary. Lovely flavour, some iron, but great Pinot character, floral, violets but fine earthy cherry dominated fruit. Excellent.

Deep, dark, and concentrated, the nose required some decanting and Riedel Sommelier-Series Burgundy bowl to show off the bouquet. Powerful black cherry and damp earthy fruit with dark spices and a considerable amount of new oak varnish. Palate is bold and focused but shows nuanced soily texture . Rich dark berry flavours but with elegance too. Yes, stylistically this is a little more modern, but it was still a very expressive and deeply delicious wine.

Wild berries, stems, dried flowers and meat on the nose and palate. Structured palate with giving sweetness. Drinking beautifully in its window. 92-93

This wine was singing! Nose of violets and flint. Long, balanced taste of cherries, violets and raspberry.
