Samples from Bill #7: Blind. Heavy on the oak aromas, there is a whack of vanilla and a light mandarin note trying to come through. Fruit on the palate is amped up to match and does cover it up, though the package is quite dense as a result. Not really together right now, though it could turn around with time if the oak settles?

first bottle for me , surprisingly good chardonnay the review by Huon Hooke sums this up for me , time will be very kind to this wine
Light to mid-yellow colour, bright, with a complex, nutty, toasty, gently smoky bouquet that leads into a richly layered, full-bodied palate that tracks the bouquet closely. Oak and lees characters play a leading role but aren't overdone. Delicious buttery richness on the palate, the fruit-sweetness splicing with savoury elements and leading into a tremendously long, satisfying finish that's beautifully balanced and appetising. A glorious chardonnay. 97points

absolute ballistically good Aussie chardonnay. Approaching LEAS level, and well above the level of recently-disappointing Giaconda.

Screwcap, 13.5% alc. pale straw–gold.
Smoky, honeyed creamy peach, nougat, cereal, and a fair amount of supporting oak. Preserved lemon, tobacco, and marzipan.
Densely fruited on the palate. Firm acidity and excellent length.
Opinion: enjoyed more on day one, but it seems to have the structure and fruit to go the distance.
