2023 Napa in the City: Tasting & Lunch (The Pool/Grill): If you’ve read any of my other notes you’ll know that I’m not a Chardonnay person mostly because I overindulged many years ago on a Cali version and after that I stopped drinking the grape. This is not a particularly overloaded version, but it is just not my jam. Well made for sure. Great backstory. I suspect for many it was a treat after 14 cabs to get to the white and it was really well liked.

Jeez, intense energy on the nose. Immediately thinking of white Burgundy (Meursault?). So persistent on the palate with the slightest touch of ripeness to make me think new world. It reminded me of Juliet by Domaine de la Cote (new world, but with virtually all old world characteristics), but this blind has much more stuffing than Juliet. Hm...
As I'm deliberating, Ryan (Golden8Wines) guesses Kongsgaard and gets it right. Awesome wine, and yet another blind wine impressively called by Ryan.

A really nice mid weigh chardonnay with tropical fruit flavors and vanilla. A good backbone to this, but just a tad thin....I can't imagine the need to pay this much money for a good Chardonnay. I prefer the distinctive white Burgundy style...Pass...Drink

Huge, rich and opulent wine. Still youthful, I bet this is better in a few years. Not exactly my style, but if you’re looking for a big and voluptuous white wine that is really well made, this will certainly deliver.

Astounding wine. Still a baby, probably a decade to go. Complex, opulent, luxurious mouthfeel.
