(Antinori Chianti Classico Riserva Tenute Marchese) This blend of 90% Sangiovese and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon and other complementary red varieties is a fairly opaque, crimson-ruby color, with aromas of saddle leather, sandalwood, forest, ripe cherry, plum, and star anise. On the palate, it is medium-bodied and dry, with cherry, earth, and tar notes; it has a soft, velvety texture, lively underlying acidity, and a long, earthy finish, although the oak tannins are a bit dusty on the finish. The wine is aged in twice- or thrice-used, 225-liter French barriques. Special Report: Chianti Classico
