  • One of the best white wines I've ever tasted. Bottle was in perfect condition - no pre-ox - and came from the cellars at Elysée restaurant in Vossevangen, Norway. The wine cellar at Voss Park Hotel (40,000+ bottles) is managed by Reidar and Robert Johansen (identical twins) who are the most helpful, knowledgeable, and enthusiastic wine directors / sommeliers I have ever encountered. The bottle came highly recommended by Reidar and lived up to expectations and then some.

  • My first Soldera: Took time to unfurl but this was a blockbuster wine. The volume and weight led me to a grand cru Burgundy, and with the sheer size of the wine I thought it was one of the Batards. Also guessed a warm vintage like 09 because of the ripe, sweet and almost exotic fruit. Very luscious, and charming instead of imposing for a grand cru.Turned a little nutty towards end of night so think it is time to drink up if you have them.

  • Food: Italian
    Duration: 2 Hours
    Condition: Perfect
Aroma: Cream, Lemon Tart, Creme Brulee, White Flowers, Hints of Citrus
Notes: Never had much expectations for 2003 in the past. However this wine was a rather special one. I've had a similar experience with some 2003 Batard Montrachet that delivers the lemon tart aroma. This was a beautiful wine, very expressive in its aroma with a fabulous aftertaste. A rather well balanced wine in a hot vintage like the 2003 with the lemon tart and creme brulee well integrated into the wine. After all Mar Colin being one of the well respected domaines in Burgundy does have its magic in producing top Burgundy whites. I really enjoyed this wine and it paired really well with the seafood we had during the evening. Not exactly young but I think we still have 10 years to enjoy this wonderful bottle. Drink now-2015.
