Glamorously elegant, zesty yet soft, creamy in a textural way (a hallmark of Sadie's wines). Never the most demonstrative of the Ouwingerdreeks, but always refreshing, a perfect synergy with food rather than a showpony on its own.

Sweet ripe pear, honeysuckle, coriander seed, wet stone, flint, salinity, yogurt, and a hint of nutmeg. Medium body, if not a little fuller. Pale yellow color. Medium-plus acid, though full and round on the pallet with a soft texture. I’m reading I should give it more time in the glass and/or bottle. Either way, it’s definitely enjoyable shortly after pouring.

New Year's Day dinner at East Bistro: Blend of Palomino and Chenin Blanc. Should have read the previous notes that mentioned this needs time. Similar to what they mentioned, this was very tight and bland to begin with, but after two hours this pulled ahead of the rest of the whites and showed its class. Lovely expression of ripe yellow fruit with proper weight and tension that gave a creamy texture to the wine. Reminded me of well-made Burgundies (with an obviously different profile but hopefully you get my drift).

Pretty similar to last experience, lots of saline, rocky minerals, bright citrus notes on the nose, similar palms with bright acidity, textural elegance and poise on the palate , and a really long focused finish. This went perfectly with some freshly shucked oysters- I’m not sure I’ve had a more complementary pairing
