  • Had a bottle just two days ago, but the cork was damaged and the bottle may have leaked a bit. As a result, the wine was a bit more advanced than it should've been. While still drinkable, it certainly wasn't a fair picture of where this wine is today. The bottle I opened today showed quite well and fully met expectations.

Very floral on the nose as well as light spics and mixed white fruits. Between light and medium bodied with white apple and white peach upfront and through the middle, but noticeably more defined than my prior bottle. Acidity, tart citrus and spice notes on the back that were more vibrant than my prior bottle. Overall, this is exactly where I expect this wine to be and how it should show well expressive, well-defined fruit with good structure and length. I give slight preference to the 2019 and I'll plan to open my last bottle in July 2023.

  • Prior bottle was 6 months ago and I was planning to open this bottle on Saturday, June 17 but the bottle was leaking and didn't want to take the chance, so I opened it now. It was a cork failure issue of some type as the seal didn't hold. However the wine was still in a very good spot, if slightly more advanced than I would've expected.

Peach, floral and spice notes on the nose. Between light and medium bodied with white apple moving to white peach. Spices minerals and lightly tart citrus notes come in on the back and through the finish. The spices notes, citrus and acidity felt slightly more integrated than previously and the peach notes a bit richer. I still plan to open another bottle on Saturday, June 17 and I'll be interested to see how that, undamaged bottle compares and that should give me a complete picture.

  • Previously tasted at the winery just over a year ago, this was my first from bottle. Floral notes, spice qualities and peach on the nose. Between light and medium bodied (12.5% ABV) with white apple and white peach the dominant fruit notes but intermixed with spices, minerals and tart citrus notes through the back and finish. The tart qualities are a bit more in balance with the fruit than in my winery tasting. This let the fruit be a bit more expressive but might mean it won't last as long as I'd initially thought. This wine is actually showing quite well at present and I may open my next bottle as soon as June 2023.

  • Good palate and finish, but a great Gewurtztraminer has that classic rose petal nose. This one does not (at least at this stage of development). This classic nose is usually absent in the Finger Lakes, but give us time! Goes well with Thai cuisine.

  • Fingerlakes wine tasting with Yagil Barel; 5/28/2022-5/31/2022 (Cayuga, Seneca, Keuka Lakes): This would be great with Thai food. Spicy sweet apples, hint of sweetness, it has a bit of the Gewurtraminer character on the palate (lychee) but just a hint, and you don't find rose petals (for me a common aroma I often find on Gewurtraminer). On the palate the wine is a bit simple and linear, and somewhere between off-dry and slightly sweet.
