  • Not pleasing. Sour cherry coughdrop. Overly spiced and burned rubber finish.

  • Solid but basic.

  • Well-made but not my style -- too jammy.

  • The first photo in the queue is not of this specific wine. It is the more expensive Estate incarceration of this varietal.
Medium extraction light strawberry with orange highlights color density. The nose has, upon opening, a slight, fleeting whiff of rubber band, along with the gentle, sweet scent of cherry and red berry fruit, and a thin sliver of vanilla, reminding me of a Robert Mondavi Carneros, Napa Valley, Pinot Noir from the late 1980s, although imparting a more clean and unfiltered presence on the palate, more like that of a very well made Cote de Nuits village level Burgundy.
Without the benefit (or distraction) of food, the lightly structured, medium light mouthfeel, supported by a bright acidity and sans tannins, displays pretty, slightly tart, red berry fruit that recedes somewhat after leaving the tongue on the first level (approach) of the palate, but reappearing toward the end of the mid-palate, and providing a satisfying finish of spice and strawberry flavor, with the addition of a plumb like, not quite sweet prune, presence in the throat.
In the final assessment, this wine should stand alone, without lateral or vertical comparisons, and assessed on its own merits. I find I have easily consumed one third of the bottle as I meandered and mused through this note. Res Ipsa Loquitur.
