  Definitely a food wine. Paired great with smoked brisket. 3 hour decant to shine. Nose: blackberry, leather, blueberry, damp forest floor. Palate: full bosy wine with tons of blackberries, oak, raspberries, dust, spice, firm tannins.

  Incredibly rich, deep violet/purple color. The syrah aroma is prevalent. Taste profile of dark cherries, some cocoa and deep, ripe dried fruits, medium to long legs and silky texture. High tannin structure. Needs food

  A nose of bold dark fruits and spice, dark black purple in color. A robust full bodied kitchen sink blend with blueberry, black cherry, spice cake and pepper, a big but balanced wine. Decant for a few hours, years of life left. www.winelx.com

  Highly recommend. This is a big good QPR wine making it a good go to wine on a restaurant wine list like we did at Mariposa in Charlotte NC. Unusual blending - this vintage is 30% Petite Sirah, 26% Merlot, 21% Petit Verdot, 14% Charbono, and 9% Syrah. Still quite young but by now approachable and drinkable even w/out a formal decant - ideally would wait 2-3 more years with an expected at least 1 point improvement in the score, decant at least 1-2 hours if drunk now and with proper cellaring this has an easy 7-10 years to go. Full bodied, big textured mouth feel, very dark purple, muscular core present with a long aftertaste. With more time should integrate a bit more. Nose dark, bold, intense and fruit forward with dark stone fruit but not very complex. The flavor profile is softer and a bit more complex - oak, controlled tannins present through out, plum, kirsch, coffee and earth. Interestingly enough I completely agree with the soy noted in the TN below - that comes through on the very end. The sommelier described this as a "grown up The Prisoner" and I now understand what he meant and agree.

  4th Saturday Brown Bagger (J&L's): Double blind. Aromas of plum, black fruit and soy. Full-bodied. Abundant dark fruit on the palate with a long finish. The soy note is just a little distracting, but otherwise very enjoyable. (M&R)
