I think maybe a little over the hill. Tasted about an hour after opening, with consistent notes over the next 2 hours. Nicely intense nose, with blue/blackberry, earth, and a bit of woodiness. Medium to full-bodied, the palate had more dark fruit, altho it was somewhat one dimensional. The tannins were very drying throughout, which makes me think this may be a bit past prime.

Clear, deep, inky purple color. Clean nose of pronounced intensity with aromas of fresh black cherry, prudery , cedar, leather, dark chocolate. mushrooms and forrest floor. The wine is still developing, On the palate it is dry with medium plus acidity, medium plus tannins, high alcohol, full body and medium plus flavor intensity of sour black cherry, chocolate, leather and earth. The finish is medium. Very good wine for this price point. Drink now or can be aged for 5 plus more years.

Splash decanted and consumed over 2-3 hours. Sediment on the cork but still vibrant and no bricking. Great QPR, especially considering the vintage. Seems to be in a good place. No need to wait longer on this one. Drink now or hold 2-3 years. This was my last 2011.

This was the last of my 6 bottles of 2011 Griffin and I believe it's reached its peak. We finished 3/4 of the bottle on the first night and polished it off on day 2. Unlike previous bottles which were better on day 2, this one was not. This is an outstanding cab blend for the money and I wouldn't hesitate to buy more if I could find it. Though with about 2 cases of 2012 and 2013 waiting in the wings, we're looking forward to tasting the younger brothers.
