4th Saturday Group: Uptown Brown Bag (V&M's): Double blind. Aromas of blueberry, herbs and clay. Full-bodied. Flavors of dark fruit, plum and blackberry syrup. Dense, chewy tannins. Guessed Howell Mntn cab franc. 92+ pts. (J&S)

Dark reddish-purple in color. Full, forward & attractive nose of ripe fruit aromas of cherries, blackberries & plums with overtones of floral & herbal notes, earthy/dusty notes, spices, olives, herbs, minerals & a hint of smoke & oak/vanilla. Medium-full bodied with a very good concentration of balanced & smooth textured, ripe fruit flavors of cherries, blackberries & plums with spices, herbs & minerals. Lingering finish. Drinks quite well at present with decanting & airing but has the potential for continued development with a few additional years of aging.

Disappointing, albeit not bad. Lovely aromatic with cedar box, plum pudding and a miso element. Palate was very flat on mono-dimensional with soft plum fruit and a slight confected note. Nose kept glowing over time and a slight improvement in depth for the wine, but really just didn't vibe. Closed? Having in AR vs OH? Dunno. I enjoyed it enough and would have liked more except in the shadow of the memory of prior bottle and its sibs.

Weakest of the 4. Has nice raspberry fruit and good weight, but a little jammy and warmer in aspect. Structure weakens in the glass. Nice, but seems basic in company.
