Community Tasting Notes (1)

  • From a hot vintage which in Bairrada can sometimes tone down some of the austerity and/or excessive greeness the baga based wines can deliver. But despite the obvious sunshine the Bágeiras Garrafeira is a classic example in great form ready for drinking. Acidic forest fruit, stems, damp and old wood shine through a still heavily coloured wine. Full bodied and shamelessly rustic, it shows again its charming uniqueness through the ripe fruit, the forest suggestions and a green side this time bathed by some ripening sunshine. Long on the finish, masculine and begging for some hearty food. Dont think it will ever become a silky wine and it would be a shame to miss the fruit in some dubious bet with time. That being said it breathes life all over. Not my favourite Garrafeira from Bágeiras but still pretty good and as usual unique.
