Expressive nose of black tea, mocha, mint, red currant, spicebox, and cherry. There is an overall pleasant medicinal note. Textured and structured with grippy tannins that hold everything, especially the high acidity, in check. Lots of allspice notes on the palate. Focused and fresh with a lot going on. Baga done right. 92+

Jamie Goode's 50 Great Portuguese Wines 2009 (Manchester): A rather muted nose with minerally black fruit. A velvety, caressing mouthfeel. But it also has a characterful spicy edge that gives it a real lift.
