  • Again a lovely bottle of big Zin, but with lots of structure. Violets and licorice on the nose. Big tobacco, smoky, dark fruit aspects on the palate. Definitely showing age, not as young and alive as last bottle (a year ago), but has a richness, an amarone-y aspect that shows its delicious evolution.

  • Raspberry, violets and licorice on the nose -- big nose. Palate is dark, rich with pepper and spice with earthy, smoky elements. A good bit of dry tannic hit at the end. Still young and alive. A wonderful zin.

  • Even more outstanding than previously. Nose is dark compote of cherries and spice. Palate is extremely fruity, dark, rich with pepper and blackberries. Notes of earth and leather and smoke. After an hour the tannins started to kick in. Still young and good.

  • Didn't take any notes, but this was a nicely balanced zin (can't believe I'm saying that with a listed alcohol of 15.6%, but it didn't show), with maturing brambly fruit. Made a nice impression. Don't think I'd be hanging on to it for many years, but then again I'm not a big fan of aging zins.

  • Very inky color as usual. Nose is dense smelling with very dark compote of cherries and spice. Palate is extremely fruity on the dark and rich side with pepper and blackberries. In first half hour was somewhat closed but then opened up to more notes of earth and leather and smoke. Then after an hour the tannins started to kick in, but never overbearing. Outstanding all around.
