This is a fine, Burgundian style chardonnay. Has little to no oak influence but nice fruit on the nose. There is consistent acid throuought and a tinge of citrus on the finish.

White orchard fruits, some citrus qualities and an earth/barnyard note on the nose. Medium bodied (12.5% ABV) with quite well balanced and mixed white orchard fruits upfront and through the middle. Just a light touch of oak on the backside along with pleasantly contrasting acidity and tannins. Perhaps a little less complexity than this vineyard site can often demonstrate but the general balance the wine is already showing helps make up for that. Already drinking quite well and I may open my next bottle as soon as November 2023.

Gavin Chanin Masterclass (Stannary Wine Company, London SE11): Less smoke on the nose compared with 2020 and otherwise yellow fruited. This bottle seemed more settled and restrained with better balance. Again oily and yellow fruited on the midpalate but more subtle and with more (welcome) acidity. From Zalto Burgundy glass.

Brilliant combination of old world and New World. Great depth, and great brightness with just a hint of butter.

£11/glass at 67 Pall Mall. I was surprised how little I got out of this. No faults, just didn’t find much in it.
