4th Saturday Group brown bagger (R&S's): Double blind. Deep color. Notes of plum, spice, pepper, perfume and sandalwood. Chocolatey and rich, with mocha, plum and red berry as well. Would never have guessed Amarone as it didn't carry the typical raisin/prune notes. Very nice. (J&L)

1 hour decant in glass. Dark garnet w/ dark ruby edge in color. Nose of cherry cola, black licorice and tomato leaf "prickliness" (non-vegetal). On the palate: macerated cherries, baking spices and sandalwood. Sandy tannins are unobtrusive; felt mostly on gums and somewhat on cheeks. Long finish of red & blue berries, chocolate and wood spice. Not quite as bright as I remember previous vintages, but really shines with more air and I suspect just needs time in the cellar. Could see this scoring 1-2 pts. higher in 5-10 years.

What a fantastic Amarone for under $40. I was not a fan of Amarone until I tried this. Medium + aromas Cinnamon, vanilla, cherry, licorice. Dry, medium acidity, medium tannins, high alcohol, cinnamon, vanilla, cherry licorice, oregano, long finish. Will be buying more.
