Cellared since release. From the challenging 2006 vintage, this wine has aged well, despite its straw gold color. The sweetness apparent early on has dropped away, but the wine is rich with spicy orange zest in nose and mouth and there is no sign that the various parts of the wine are separating. Despite the power and the 14.5% stated alcohol, this is in no way an ungainly wine, although it is one that certainly reflects its terroir through the lens of the vintage.

Strong fruit, would have also been great as half-dry or sweet. Immense power and spice.

Lunch by Hans Horberth * with Weil, Reinhartshausen and Johannishof (Rheingau Gourmet & Wine Festival Hattenheim, Germany): Very attractive but too sweet for my taste.
