This wine was purchased with some age already on it. And, aged blackberry and black cherry were the notes of this wine. This wine took about 30 minutes to open and was a little strange and awkward at initial cork pop. Settled down nicely with a black cherry, mint, rhubarb opening with black pepper to the finish. Nice structure. These wines tend to be quite a bit more lean initially but with 10 years of age on them, they really turn into nice works of art. This is no exception. A really nice 14 year old Diamond Mtn wine. IMO, I think this one is probably at the top of the hill, but will be declining probably shortly. If you have these, drink them with about 30-60 minutes of decant time.

Expected good, received great a very hearty deep dark robust dense wine that was even better after a 90 minute decant. Plenty of flavors gong on here cherry, blackberry and cassis. Finish after decant was big & chewy like great chocolate milk. Thanks to my friend for the gift and I didn't wait too long to enjoy it!

This opaque crimson wine was decanted and served in double-blind fashion to our Friday tasting group. The wine was serially tasted over 2-3 hours. My taste was unblinded. The nose opens quickly to show moderately intense cassis, plum, allspice and vanilla aromas. It is full-bodied on the palate, with great concentration, low-to-medium acidity and generous sweet tannins. The alcohol (listed as 14.3%) is well-integrated and the flavors are in line with the nose. The solid middle palate leads to a long, smooth finish. While certainly very enjoyable now (and very well-received by our group), I suspect that patience will provide further rewards with this Diamond Mountain gem. If you are "greedy" and desire to hit this one in the sweet spot, drink 1/15-12/30.
