Roses and tar on the nose, also a dustiness. The palette absolutely shines. Macerated cherries, pine, sparkly acidity all on the palette, which is so fresh. Some pine needles too. Great palette.

Stood up for two weeks. Ullage bottom neck. Saturated cork which began to sink and then broke. A two hour slow oxidation followed by a two hour decant. A medium garnet core fading to a pale tawny outer edge. Aromatically layered and inviting with dried tar, decayed red roses, beef consommé, aged balsamic, pine needles, and macerated black cherry. There’s no shortage of concentration or length - on the finish you’ll find a touch of charred red meat. Remarkably fresh as these wines often are thanks to the excellent acidity and tannic structure on show - albeit the tannins are mostly resolved by now.

Garnet to rusty color, cloudy throughout. Nose of menthol, rusty iron and black berries. Surprisingly good fruit of fresh black berries, cassis and a hint of mint on the finish. Light acidity, full resolved tannin, medium to full bodied. Drink now with no air. Be sure and stand several days before serving and slowly decant off the sediment and serve immediately.
