promises much but doesn't quite deliver. Thought this was going to develop some secondary characters with a few years in the cellar but it just won't give them up. Fruit forward with a melange of raspberry, strawberry and cherries with plenty of cloves and brambly spice, a bit rubbery but that blows off to be replaced by dark chocolate. Fruity with length, rich berries, sweet cherry, savoury tobacco, aniseed, touch of herb and stalkiness but acid pokes out on the finish and a suggestion of heat. Just didn't grab me.

Caroline's bash (Windsor): Full colour, almost purple-tinged. Densely fruity nose, some spice, but initially a slightly reductive element that's matched by a slight sprizyness on the palate. This wears off to reveal a full, obviously new world pinot with attractive ripe fruit. Decent enough but this needed unscrewing and decanting earlier than it was. Really only a quick sip so nothing more than an impression here. **1/2

A robust and quite powerful example (14.5%), with an attractive streak of acidity balanced by slightly sweet, ripe fruit. An earlier bottle was disappointing but this hit the mark.

Bright red to purple; initially a little retiscent, then cherry and slightly raspberry fruit. Quite dense fruit on the attack, again primarily raspberry, reasonable weight and nicely balannced finish. Fruit is nicely structured and not overblown and if there is oak it's very subtley done. All in all, very nice. Still lacking a little complexity and interest that might well develop in time, but a comfortable *** and a good match with duck.

Very good Pinot. Rich in the nose and in the palette.
