  • Purchased in Ravello and being enjoyed on a picture perfect day. A classic example of Brunello, this wine is young with plenty of tannins today but 3 hours of aeration was a good idea as the fruit emerges. Lots of good drinking ahead. Grade of a very strong B+ today.

  • Dark ruby color to the rim. This Sangiovese is full bodied and delicious with great balance to complement the high alcohol levels. Went really well with grilled pork tenderloin and asparagus.

  • Had the 2013 quite recently, which was unfortunately going through its closed stage this 2017 is still in its youthful opulent stage. Quite a bit of oak, red fruits, sour cherry, berries and nice acidity. Quite a bit of tannins but felt quite ripe and not overtly green. Good long Finish. Went well with the pizza.

  • My first impression is oak, oak, oak. I did pop and pour, perhaps some 'air time' will help blow off some of the oakiness. I told myself I would shelve this for a couple of years. Alas, too impatient. Had a few of the past vintages and this Tuscan Vineyard is typically a powerful Brunello; fruit forward, tart cherries and raspberry. There are some pepper notes with good acidity. Fingers crossed this will open up to a more subtle palate over the next few hours. Definitely waiting on the other bottles I purchased.

I'm back ... after 2 hours and I am changing my mind. Definitely needs a decant and now it's singing! Nice complexity once the oak blew off, long finish thx to the balanced acidity. Bumped to 92!

  • Tasted at EMW Grand tasting. Very tannic and not yet breathed enough when tasted. Very dense and concentrated. This needed lots of air. I think that this wine is super concentrated. Very complex with lots of potential. But needs to age and plenty of air when drinking. Cigar box, black cherry, tea leaves, and minerals. Much denser than the Rosso di Montalcino. So grippy in the mouth.
