  Medium ruby, clear. Smells like cherry, smoke, cedar, orange, and licorice. Medium body, acid, and finish, with flavors of cherry, lemon, and spice. Solid Italian food pairing supermarket purchase.

  Distinct powerful funky nose, may offend or entice, as it evolves into fruit notes. Dark color. Young not quite settled, medium bodied fruit, on the rustic side with a dry mildly tannic edge. Fermentation may still be in progress. Interesting components needing time and food with flavor.
  
  As I prepared chicken francese with pasta with pesto, the Chianti was observing and transposing. Brighter cherry notes, smoother on the palate. A Chianti with carrateri - Character.
  
  At $13+- a reliable paesan.
