Very good value. Fresh, attractive bitterness on end, decent length, balanced, married with pizza effortlessly. Reliable producer, fair price. Good ordinary Valpolicella is something I like a lot more than ripasso or amarone, and my liver does too.

Pop & pour for the Kymamox pop-up tasting. This wine has always showed well and no exception here- red cherries, plums, cranberries, and a nice earthy / oaky quality. Acidity has a nice light tartness while the oak gives it enough structure to make it serious drinking. $14 Empire still an insane value, driving it up to an A- (90) overall.

Light garnet in the glass. The nose was very earthy out of the bottle but that all blew off after an hour of decanting, now there is still a little wet soil but mostly fresh cherries. The palate is a little smoky, and leather, but still most cherries. Easy drinker but could use just a bit more structure for my liking.

Still drinking nicely, black and red cherries with a classic earthy-leathery finish. A- (90) eval.

Plummy, herbal. Long finish with cherry notes. Complex for this price point.
