  • I'm kinda shocked I've never recorded a CT note on a Deschamps prior to this, and also pretty sad, as he has retired and his last vintage was 2022...

This is a big ripe 2021, which is a bit surprising, but it's fabulous; fruity, floral, poised, fresh, long and impactful... Aromas of elderflower, jasmine, privet blossom, white peach, lemon, orange, stone dust, a little currants and wild mint... Full, energetic and densely packed, silky texture, gorgeous inner perfume of flowers, herbs and veggies; not nearly as tart and cutting as I was thinking it would be, but this still has the freshness of the vintage and feels lighter than usual. Green notes and acid are more prominent on the finish, this has beautiful herbal and pithy grip, luscious fruit and flowers flit about as everything fades to classic citrus, herbs and stones. It is its usual wild, unctuous and exuberant self, but the cool vintage surely plays a part in its freshness and balance; I suspect it will be worth following at least another few years, perhaps 5+, but as with any Sauvignon, I would want to check up on it pretty regularly...

Forgot about this on day two, but on day three it's doing just fine. It has mellowed a bit, the citrus feels sweeter on the nose, and the green notes are pushed back. Tense and lively, gorgeous fruit and herbs, flowers and stones, this is gorgeous Sauvignon.
