I thought this was fantastic. BdB with no dosage, it presents with an interesting, rapturous bouquet of spice and citrus rind. Some faint cake batter, which is balanced by the absence of dosage and the presence of oak. I don’t find that intrusive at all, rather interesting and adding seasoning.

There’s an upfront limestone/white travertine thing going on here that keeps the yellow and white citrus and stone fruit in righteous formation, almost to the point of being a bit linear. Much improvement comes with time in the glass, as the flavors expand and deepen, but are quickly swept off their feet again by a direct pull of higher riding mineral elements. Finishes with a wet slate and perhaps even an herbal component. More strict and currently less compellingly accessible than the 2018 Le Parc. 93-94+ points. Solid wine that needs more time in bottle than its year-younger sibling.
2017 vintage. 100% Grand Cru Chardonnay. Bottled July 18, 2018. Disgorged March 2022. Dosage 0 g/L. 19 mg/L sulfites. 1667 bottles. 12.5% ABV.

Champagne Bookclub (all served blind)--Viet (La Tableau in South Coast Plaza): Disgorged March 2022. Zero dose, 100% Chard. Paul was sitting next to me and after a few swirls and a moment to think, he nails the wine as Marguet--impressive. He and I have opened many over the years and the elevage signature is here, with the asian 5 spice and clove. I found the oak doing a nice seasoning of the wine, complementary. Lemony and earthy citrus with orange. All of it tangy. 5-spice with a finish of slatey mineral.

-- popped and poured -- -- tasted non-blind over approx. 1 hr. -- -- 100% Chardonnay -- -- Dosage: none -- -- Disgorgement: March 2022 --
NOSE: bright and light; chalky; Golden Delicious apple.
BODY: medium-light body; not much of a bead --- it was nearly still almost immediately.
TASTE: bone dry, but still very fruity; medium-high acidity; taut; builds as it sees some air. Truly impressive. Probably best to Hold for a year or two.
