  • Red fruits lead the way here, with notes of strawberry, raspberry, and red currant commingling throughout. The Mourvedre pops, with tar notes emerging and lingering on the medium-long finish. Silky mouthfeel. A modern style (15.5%!), yet doesn't feel over the top.

  • Good wine but just not my style.

  • 2 hr decant. No sediment or cloudiness. Very dark, 80% obscure with brown tones. Nose has caramel, blackberry, wet leaves. Palate has caramel, dark cassis, plum. The enjoyment here is from silky soft texture and fine, powdered tannins. Texturally I dont know how it can get any better but perhaps the fruit will ripen and add complexity with more time. The acid could tone down abit too. Very good wine at this stage and worth the money. Will try to cellar a few more to see where these go.

  • Primary grenache blend. Nose of bright red fruit, evergreen, and assorted herbs. Persimmon, under ripe strawberry, cranberry, and red licorice on the palate.. Certainly not a powerhouse CDP; more towards the elegant and refined side. Medium body with manageable tannin.

  • Halos de Jupiter's 2020 Châteauneuf-du-Pape is a deep ruby blend of 77% Grenache and 23% Mourvèdre. This particular bottle was decanted through a Vinturi aerator and allowed to sit in carafe for two hours before taking the first sip. The wine was then serially tasted over the ensuing three hours. Flaunting an intense aromatic profile of dark bramble fruits, fig, Provençal herbs, mulling spices, bittersweet chocolate and graphite, it is a full-bodied, freshly acidic, lightly oaked red with ample polished tannins and flavors mirroring the aromas. Listed as a lofty 15.5%, the wine's alcohol is surprisingly well-integrated, throwing no heat on the dense mid-palate and lengthy finish. Everything is in balance here, resulting in a wine that is a joy to drink. Because of the way that this bottle was handled, I cannot say if the degree of aeration was necessary, but I can say that it was expressive and beautiful throughout the three hours that it was consumed. Drink now-2033.
